From large trade show booth design companies to small booth banner shops, everyone in the tradeshow business is affected. This is how we are coping.

Covid-19 has impacted and changed the world completely. The trade show business is affected from the small booth banner shops to the large exhibit rental houses. This is how we as the exhibition industry can support each other and survive this pandemic.

The Impact of Covid-19 on Trade Show Booth Rentals in Las Vegas and How We Are Coping With It?

The Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Trade Show Booth Rentals in Las Vegas is tremendous as the Las Vegas convention center was closed for months. If you thought the economy in Las Vegas worked primarily on casinos then take a pause and think again. The exhibitions industry contributes $10.5 bn in economic activity, creates 70,000 jobs and brings over 6.6mn people to Las Vegas every year.

With the onset of Covid-19 from the beginning of this year to the current situation in end of Oct the number of cancelled trade shows in Las Vegas and even globally has been phenomenal.

Las Vegas Trade shows That Have Been Cancelled or Rescheduled

One of the largest trade shows that is held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre is the International Wireless Communications Expo. Covering an area of 0.185mn square feet and attracting over 12000 attendees, this is a global converging point for its industry. However, it was cancelled due to Covid-19 in March this year.

Yet another show that draws a lot of participation and revenue for the Exhibit Rentals industry in Las Vegas as well as the tourism industry is the NAB show that was scheduled to happen in April. This show is the world’s largest technology and media convention and all the companies that deal in trade show booth rentals in Las Vegas focus on this show. However, it was also cancelled at the last minute and will now take place next in 2021 in New York. Along with this the Digital Sign Expo previously scheduled for March 31- Apr 3 has also been pushed to Sep 15-18 later this year. This Las Vegas trade show sees 200 exhibitors and 4000 attendees annually.

Other technology exhibitions in Las Vegas that have got cancelled or postponed include SAP Ariba Live that was scheduled to take place from Mar 16-18, Dell World that was scheduled to be held from 4-7th May, Cisco Live 2020 that was scheduled to be held from 31st May – 4th June and HPE Discover that was scheduled for 23-24th June 2020. Also, Defcon, the worlds pioneering conference on hacking, that was scheduled to take place as an in-person event in Las Vegas will be a virtual event this year.

How to Ride the Tide in Turbulent Times

With a plethora of shows getting postponed or cancelled the exhibitions industry has taken a huge hit, so has tourism and so has each exhibitor at these trade shows. The time is uncertain and the question to be addressed now is ‘how does one efficiently ride this turbulent tide to come out strong in the end?’ We at SOL believe that we can overcome this situation with understanding and patience if we all are in it together – Exhibitors coming to Las Vegas trade shows, companies that deal in trade show booth rentals in Las Vegas like ourselves and trade show organizers.

So, what our strategy to stay afloat in these turbulent times is to keep things humane and simple. Being one of the preferred Exhibit Rentals companies in Las Vegas we had a lot of last minute cancellations by organizers as well as exhibitors. So, to give the benefit to the exhibitors, we decided that if the show is postponed up to 6 months from show dates we will warehouse their structures at our cost and install it for them at the postponed show dates. If the show is postponed to next year then we shall charge only small amount to the extent of work done and take forward the balance amount for next year and build the booth for the exhibitor next year.

One thing that has worked in the favour of companies dealing in trade show booth rentals in Las Vegas, like us, is that the structures are 80% modular. This means that they are easy to install and easy to reuse. If they were 100% customized structures, like that which is used in Europe or Asia, the extent of losses suffered would be much more.

The pandemic has had a lot of negative impacts on our industry, but it has also brought our clients closer to us. They trust us, appreciate us and value their association with us as much as we love serving them. So, if you are looking for a company that deals in trade show booth rentals in Las Vegas who not only knows the in-and-out of the exhibition business, but also operates with a heart then look no further.
